The Food enhancement category by definition is any product that adds taste, colour and/or texture to food, including ingredients and condiments.

Food Enhancers are widely used throughout Africa to add flavour during or after the preparation of a meal.

Onga is the generic brand name for all food enhancement products produced by Promasidor and plays the role of Mama’s helping hand in the kitchen by providing hard working mothers with the extra help they need in preparing delicious meals for their families.

Onga falls within the ingredients segment of the Food Enhancement Category and is used during the cooking process. Food enhancement products like Onga are made up of a blend of ingredients(salt, flavor enhancers, spice extracts, flavorants and colorants) which is used to add flavor to stews, soups and sauces.


At present the Onga range consists of Onga Seasoning powder which presents an alternative to stock cubes, Mchuzi Mix and Curry Mix. Onga has been launched in 10 countries todate.

Though not strictly speaking ‘food enhancement’ products, but rather meals in their own right, this category also includes Kippi, a high protein kapenta fish product and Dora pilchards in tomato sauce.
