Sossi sponsors Dreams, Zambia’s hottest music talent show

Tasty Sossi, your favourite soya meal, is proud to be a sponsor of Dreams Zambia, a music talent search that mirrors similar shows like Idols, The Voice and X-factor.

The show focuses on discovering the wealth of talent in Zambia. Upcoming music stars are turned into instant nationwide icons that ultimately find fame, not only in Zambia, but also beyond its borders. The show has been running annually since 2012 on the national broadcaster and attracts scores of viewers week in and week out.

Dreams is currently in its fourth season. Auditions are held three months prior to the first flighting, which then runs for three months culminating in the Grand Finale on 30 December 2016.

The Dreams team travels to main cities across the country scouting for talent. Thousands of young people, aged between 15 and 35 audition for a shot at the Top 50, who then travel to Zambia for a one-week boot camp, where the Top 15 contestants are selected. The lucky 15 then take part in the live performances, on which the public vote for the best. Sossi sponsored the boot camp and provided breakfast and lunch for the contestants.

The show makes dreams come true for aspiring young musicians, who are given a platform to kick-start their careers. It is also a dream come true for Zambians, who want to see high quality film and TV productions.

The winner drives away with car as the Grand Prize. He or she is also provided with shopping cash and a prestigious recording deal with Jadba Recordings South Africa (also Dreams Consultants for VP records, Warner music, Sony ATV and more).

Dreams has three judges: Kenny Tonga (CEO of Powerfm and a Mandela Washington Fellow), Mukuni Mulundika (a seasoned musician), and Kalenga Mubanga (an actor and TV presenter).

The show is the brainchild of the Starcom Zambia (Member of the Publicis Group) CEO Luckie Chiyowele. Dreams was an idea that came to him as a result of being assisted by people to achieve his own goals in life. Dreams can come true for anyone if they have an eye for opportunity and seize it. Luckie wanted to give young people, who have singing talent, the opportunity to begin their success story. Dreams also offers opportunities for individuals with special skills in the film industry, like editors, directors, producers and so on, to build their skills and contribute to the building of the industry in Zambia.  Dreams Zambia has worked with brands like Samsung SA, Barclays Bank, BancABC, Mara-Mentors and many more. Most recently, Sossi has joined this impressive list of sponsors.
