Promasidor’s path to corporate responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an approach whereby companies embed economic, social and environmental concerns into their corporate culture. From Lagos, Cross River, Kaduna, Oyo, Rivers, Delta and many states across the country, Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives are becoming major pillars of the public relations activities used by companies to reach their markets. This approach also takes into consideration how organizations engage with their external and internal stakeholders within the business and value chain, and transparently demonstrates how businesses are mitigating the impact of their activities on the community and our common environment.
Promasidor Nigeria is one of the companies in Nigeria that is a socially responsible corporate organization with a good track record of corporate social initiatives. The company’s CSR is driven by a vision to always be responsible and responsive to its various stakeholders. Over the years, the company has been very active in supporting national development aspirations in line with that vision.
For instance, Promasidor Nigeria has been invited to receive the award of the Best Company in Education at the prestigious Gala Awards Dinner at the end of this year. The Gala Awards Dinner, part of activities marking the 26th AGM/PR Week of the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, was inspired by the desire to recognize and reward corporate organizations’ and individuals for their ground-breaking investments in CSR projects and to encourage more investment in the practice. So, all roads lead to the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday, 21st December 2016 where Promasidor Nigeria will receive the awards for Best Company in Education.
Last year, Promasidor also emerged as one of the winners of the Lagos State Government Support-Our-Schools-Initiative Corporate Social Responsibility Award for 2014. The award was given to Promasidor in recognition of the company’s contribution to the Lagos State Government Ministry of Education Support Our Schools Initiative project for promoting teaching and learning of Mathematics through a mathematics competition in all public senior secondary schools in the state.
In recognition of the enormous contributions of Promasidor Nigeria to the Isolo community of Lagos, the Osolo of Isolo Kingdom, the Council of Chiefs and the entire Isolo Kingdom had earlier named Promasidor The Best Corporate Social Responsibility Performing Company of The Year 2014.
Presenting the award to Promasidor at the Okota Country Club, Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Kolawole Agbabiaka described Promasidor as a pacesetter for others to follow in terms of CSR, adding that the community sees the positive impact of Promasidor every year in the areas of education, infrastructural development, health and economic empowerment amongst others.
