Onga Foodies Hangout 2018 wows foodies

ONGA Foodies Hangout was conceived as part of our efforts to connect with food enthusiasts, food entrepreneurs and Onga Nigeria’s loyal fans on social media to build brand affinity through a platform where attendees could experience ONGA through the five senses of sight, touch, taste, smell and sound. The maiden edition held at Muri Okunola Park, Lagos and City Park, Abuja, on the 25th of August and 8th of December 2018, had over 300 attendees present.
Celebrity Disc Jockey, DJ Neptune was present on the wheels of steel, dishing out good music whilst guests were treated to a variety of delicious dishes, including beef kebab, asun, spicy goat meat, grilled plantain, barbecue and the famous Nigerian party favourite jollof rice. All meals were prepared live using the different ONGA variants.
Social Media celebrity Chef Afrolems held a master-class on how to utilise social media to carve a niche for their food businesses. She also performed a live demonstration on how to plate and take great food photos for social media to gain better engagement and patronage. MC Bollylomo anchored proceedings and entertained the audience.
Brand manager, Sophiat Bello, educated the guests on the qualities and uses of ONGA, highlighting its unique benefits of great taste and aroma. She also encouraged attendees to keep supporting the brand and make it their first choice in preparing meals “from start to finish”. Miss Bello further expressed the brand’s commitment to sustain a healthy relationship with food lovers (foodies), chefs and food bloggers, whilst emphasising the possibilities achievable with “Mama’s Helping Hand” in the kitchen.
Attendees had great fun navigating the food stands and tasting the dishes of their choice. Board games of Scrabble, Monopoly, Snake and Ladders, and the Onga Wheel of fortune, which participants spun to win lucky prizes, were available to engage participants. A photo booth was also available, where participants took photos with the ONGA Foodies Hangout themed props and shared them on their social media pages.
The highlight of the event was a cooking competition between three teams. All teams prepared a simple meal of pasta and their entries were judged based on taste, presentation, cleanliness and time management. Winners were rewarded with exciting gifts.
The ONGA Foodies Hangout was also a way for foodies to connect with other food lovers and practitioners, as they had the opportunity to share ideas and network in a fun ambience.
The event came to a close with each attendee receiving a heavy goody bag courtesy ONGA.
