Onga delights participants of the 2016 Homofest with a Cooking Contest

The 2016 edition of the Homogeneous Festival Celebration, Homofest, came to a successful end with a delightful cooking contest put together by Onga and the Centre for National Culture.

The festival, which marks the climax of all Homogeneous traditional festival celebrations in the regional capital, Greater Accra, saw a colourful display of art and culture by the chiefs and people of the region. Key to the celebration was the Onga cooking contest, which saw 16 different groups representing the various districts in the region. Participants prepared indigenous meals from their various districts in addition to the indigenous Festival meal, “Kpokpoi” with a touch of Onga.

At the end of the contest, La Dade Kotopon Municipal Assembly emerged winners, while Ada Foah and Ga East Assembly came in 2nd and 3rd respectively. The Winners were presented with deep freezers, Gas stoves and industrial Microwaves in addition to the Onga souvenirs and products.

Brand Manager of Onga Mrs Emmeline Tagoe expressed her delight about the entire celebration and also congratulated the participating districts for making the contest a successful one. Mrs. Tagoe also assured the contestants of the brand’s commitment to continuously support activities from the Center and the Tourism Ministry in order to keep projecting the food culture of the country.

The year’s Homofest, which marks the 3rd edition of the celebration, was made more colourful by the rich cultural display by chiefs, and people of Ga-Dangbe communities.
