November 2012 Newsletter
As predicted in the previous Link Newsletter, the second half of 2012 will be a good one for Promasidor. There are tentative signs in Nigeria that the bravery and resilience of the Nigerian population is helping Nigeria to recover from the violence throughout most of this year. To add to its problems Nigeria has also recently experienced significant flooding with 19 states in Nigeria declaring a state of emergency. In the face of continuing violence and this extraordinary weather, we hope and pray that the Promasidor family in Nigeria, our customers and our consumers remain safe and that everyone can look forward to a prosperous year in 2013. If the politicians can take heed of some of Keith Richards' points in the first article of this Newsletter, that will certainly help. A special thanks from me and everyone at Promasidor must go to, in particular, to our brave sales force who have continued to sell our products in the most trying circumstances. Their stories and feats (delivering products by canoe!) have been nothing but inspiring.
And so we head towards two very important months for Promasidor, December and January, months that are traditionally good bellwethers for the forthcoming year. However, whatever the bellwether, Promasidor is confident that we will perform well. We continue to deliver great products at good value. Take for example our new Onga tablets launched in Ghana which have quickly received wide acceptance across the country. Of course this success is down to the strong work ethic of everyone at the company, our innovative marketing and attention to detail throughout the whole project. But our product delivers a quality product at better value than competing products and that will always be a critical part of our ongoing success. Perhaps it was too successful, as it meant Ghana's MD Olivier Thiry sportingly kept to his side of the bet that if Promasidor Ghana exceeded 1,000MT of product sold in a month he would shave his hair off! You can read about other innovative product launches at Promasidor in this newsletter such as Sossi Mince in Kenya and the Twisco product extensions, which have helped to make Twisco the leading chocolate beverage brand in Algeria within 3 years of the brand launch. Congratulations to all who have participated in these projects.
An important part of Promasidor's success is the continuing investment in the communities where we work and live. We were proud to win the award for Best Company in Child Focused CSR in Nigeria and this award underlines our belief in supporting, and desire and policy to support, education in Africa. Education as you all know is one of the critical cornerstones required in Africa if the continent is to achieve its undoubted enormous potential, and we will continue to play our part.
Once again, enjoy the read, I hope it may help you to find inspiration, and perhaps one day your story will be in our Newsletter. Keep up the good work and make the next two months good ones for Promasidor, providing the confidence for a strong 2013.
Of course it is not just all work and no play. I hope you have a very happy Christmas, enjoy any time off, which I am sure is richly deserved and may I offer my best wishes for a Prosperous New Year for you and your families.
