Cowbell Afahye Basketball Tournament Ends With Team-Accra Sweeping All Gold Medals for Both the Men’s and Women’s Division


Brand manger for Cowbell, Mr Joseph Ashong, has announced plans to invest and support the growth of basketball in the country. He made this known after a successful Cowbell-Afahye basketball tournament, which was organized as part of the Afahye festival celebration in the Central region.12 selected basketball teams from different parts of the country took part in the two-day heated competition.

The tournament ended with two teams from Greater Accra Region taking home Gold medals for both the Men’s and Women’s division. The competition, which was organized in collaboration with the After7 Basketball Club took place at the plush Cape Coast stadium in the Central region.

Presenting the prizes to both winning teams, Mr Ashong, described the tournament as very competitive and also one of the best he has watched in the country. He also re-echoed Cowbell’s commitment to support basketball and called on all players to continue to give their best in order to push basketball in Ghana onto the international scene.

“Accra Select Team” took home the winning trophy, gold medals, a mouth-watering cash prize as well as Cowbell products for emerging 1st in the men’s division while the 2nd and 3rd went to  “Kumasi Select Team” and “Reformers” of the Ghana Prison Services respectively. For the female category, Accra Security Services won 1st after a heated final with the Ghana Navy team. 3rd position went to Team Galaxy with a winning package of the bronze medals and cash prizes as well as Cowbell products.
